2019 Fall Program
Marty Sheppard from the Sheppard Foundation For Hope (SFFH) presented to members regarding a girl's empowerment retreat in Kenya. This is the third retreat sponsored by SFFH and the second time Beta Mu is collaborating with them to meet Sigma's call to address the WHO Sustainable Development Goals. The empowerment retreat is for young Maasai girls (9-18) and their mothers. The activities are designed to build self-esteem, provide support networks, and encourage/support education. The retreat ultimately provides education for both the girls and their mothers about female genital mutilation (FGM) in an attempt to eradicate this practice.
Alumni Homecoming Breakfast
Beta Mu sponsored a table for Homecoming at the University of Arizona College of Nursing hosted breakfast in October.
